Raphael is a geoarchaeologist working on paleoenvironmental reconstruction on Lindisfarne, a small tidal island in North East England. Lindisfarne is well-known as the scene of one of the first Viking raids on the British Isles in 793 AD, and had an eventful history, both in terms of cultural changes and landscape evolution. The project seeks to explore human-environmental interactions on Holy Island since the early middle ages following an interdisciplinary approach by combining geophysical prospection, soil science and microfossil analysis.
